Date is set!

Plans for our trip to Catacamas are in motion. Looks like we will be leaving DFW July 10th and will be in Honduras for a week. We got some really good rates, so thanks for the prayers. Keep 'em going up, please, for everyone's health, for the weather before, during and after our stay, for safe travel, the list goes on and on....

My VBS lesson is going to be "Jail House Rocks" with Pablo y Silas, breaking out of jail. Any ideas or input would be appreciated. I've got my lesson in spanish, but don't know if I can learn to read it or if I will use a translator. We'll see.

Please pray for the 2009 Mission Trip to Honduras

Time to get things ready. We're working on Bible class lessons. Starting to check on tickets. We want to ask for prayers that everything will go smoothly, that we will get the best tickets, that we will have room for all of our teaching materials... The list goes on.

Those planning to go this year, so far, are Laronda, Phyllis, Sammy, Cary, Debbie, Mac, Connie, Darrell, Mike, John L., Phillip, Brent, Evan, Papa, Donna, Kenneth, David R., Hanna, David and myself. (subject to change). Please pray for all that are listed here and pray for any that may be thinking about going, to have the courage to step up for GOD and make plans to go. Pray that we choose the lessons that will make a great impact for the Lord and we will glorify God in all we do.

3-5-09 UPDATE - The list of those going on the trip are as follows: Laronda, Phyllis, Sammy, Cary, Yvonne, Mac, Connie, Mike, John L., Phillip, Brent, Evan, Papa, Donna, Kenneth, David R., Hanna, David and myself. Some "maybe's" are: Debbie, Ginger, Cassidy & a friend of Cassidy. Some of the group will leave July 6th, with the rest of the group leaving July 10th. Please continue to pray for this mission trip. Some recipes

WILD ANIMAL CRACKERS

1 1/2 Boxes unsalted saltine crackers (not the cheap kind, they will crumble)
1 1/3 Cup Canola Oil
2 Tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp coarse garlic powder
1 pkg dry Ranch Dressing Mix

Combine Oil, red pepper flakes, garlic and dressing mix. Mix well. Put all crackers in no smaller than 2 gallon ziploc bag. (you could use garbage bags, which you will need to double.) Pour liquid mix over crackers. Seal bag. Turn the crackers until all are coated. This may take awhile. Just turn the crackers gently, in the bag let the sit awhile, then turn them again, and again and again, until well coated. Store in air tight container.

Peach Cobbler

1 large can sliced peaches, drained
2 or 3 cans crescent rolls
1 stick butter, melted
1 cup sugar
1 can Sprite

Spray a 9 x 13 pan with Pam. unroll the crescent roll. Put one peach slice on the big end of the triangle and roll up. Place in pan. Do the same with the rest of the peaches. Combine melted butter and sugar and pour over peaches. Pour sprite directly over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or so, until golden brown.

Smooooooth!!!

11-10-2008 Anyone that's ever driven in Jacksboro knows that the streets can be a major trek and if it were possible to drive and miss a pothole, you'd be driving all over the roads. And you would still hit at least one. You would also know that the city is always digging the streets up to repair water lines or sewers, adding to the bumpy roads. OR, DOT shaves off some pavement to "patch" it back with a non smooth street.


Last night they finished topping off West Belknap, from downtown east toward Graham.

I'm going to keep tabs on the now smooth street to see how long it takes before the city or DOT either tears in to the pavement or a pothole develops.

Pray for the United States of America and Obama

I got the following in an email and agree that we need to pray and also to show the President-elect respect.

"Well, dear friends, we have spent the last few months praying for the outcome of this election and obviously, God chose to allow a man who in our judgment was not right, to become president of our great nation. We don't understand why, but our job now is to pray for him (for some, a difficult thing) and pray for our country. I don't know if God is teaching us something or if possibly Obama won't be as bad as we think, but praise God anyway. If Job could praise God after losing his children and all he had, we can praise God in the loss of this election. Remember that God can see the big picture and we can't (Romans 8:28 And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, [even] to them that are called according to [His] purpose. )! Please continue to join us in fervent prayer today for the future of our nation...and for our new president."

Boo!

I've been booed! Sunny Jo at Estrogen Ocean has boo-ed me and before I had time to reply, Shelly at Mindnumbing Ramblings boo-ed me, too. Normally I would take offense to being booed, but with the great English language this is a different kind of boo (could we really not think of a new word for things? we just recycle words and give them various meanings? don't get me started on words that are spelled differently but pronounced the same...they're, there, their...or words that look the same but pronounced differently...read, read. ok, I'm done.).

Ruidoso, Strep, what else...

The first weekend in October, we were in Ruidoso, enjoying the fresh mountain air (along with some chilly rain, even snow on the mountain top!). This is the second year we have taken my Mom to Ruidoso around her birthday.

We of course went to the Flying J Ranch http://www.flyingjranch.com/experience.html. Also going this year were Kerry & Angela, Cleta, Eddie, Kristel and Brayden. (We missed Lindsay, who got to go last year, but is now in school!)

One thing we could have missed out on is the prade route traffic. On Saturday am, we rode for 1 1/2 hours trying to get to the Arts & Crafts show, which wasn't much to brag about, after all the waiting! However, we did spot a cute sign on our drive down. It read,

"I laughed so hard, tears ran down my legs!"

We celebrated Mamaw's birthday and Brayden helped her blow out the candle.

I posted a slide show of the pictures we all took. Look on the right side of this page under slideshow - Ruidoso 10-08.

We stopped in Big Spring and saw Granddad and Nana. Got this Four Generation pic.

On our way home Monday, I started feeling hot. Cleta did the "mom test" on my forehead and said, yes, I was probably running a temp. By the time we got home, my throat was hurting, so I figured I had tonsilitis! Wrong! I thought, I could just home cure myself, but by Wednesday morning, decided to let the professionals have a crack and sure enough, I had strep. I'd never had that before. Tonsilitis, sure. Sore throat from post nasal drip, sure. But Strep? That was a first for me.
