Been home a week now.

A week ago today, we were just leaving Honduras. We're all rested up and we showed the video at the luncheon at church yesterday. I'm going to try to post what we did by days, so here is the start of our trip.
Monday, June 16th

We gathered at the church and loaded the trailer loaned to us by Bob and Roxanna and headed for Dallas Love Field. From the Jacksboro area are Vicky, David and me, Phyllis, Brent, Laronda, John, Evan and Leslie and Mike from Wichita Falls. Melanie had baked muffins for us and Michael and Trey decorated bags and put apples in them for a send-off surprise. Tommy & Bill drove and we really appreciate them getting up that early. We left around 2 am and met up with the rest of our group from the Naples area. Those included Brittany (who is actually from Wichita Falls), Mac, Debbie, Connie, Darrell, Donna, Damon, Artie, Yvonne, Frank, Todd, Anna, Toni, Phillip, Ginger, Kayden, Cassidy and Richard.

We had about a two hour layover in Houston, then, on to Honduras, where we landed at San Pedro Sula where we were met by David and Suyapa.
To be honest, we weren't looking forward to the 4+hours on an old yellow school bus. But then up drove a charter type bus! Alright, we would ride in air conditioned comfort! But alas the air couldn't keep up, but we were able to open the windows and most of our ride was through the mountains so it was a little cooler. Most slept, some read. As I reported in the earlier blog, the bus driver honked his horn A LOT! Sometimes to warn another vehicle that he was going to pass and sometimes, just to say hello to vehicles we were meeting on the road. We stopped about halfway at a restaurant for a much needed break, then, back on the road again to Tegucigalpa. It was not quite dark when we arrived then had to drive many narrow streets to get to our hotel. At one point, we were turning and a car was in the way. So some guys (not from the bus) picked the car up and moved it on to the sidewalk and out of our way. Then, on to our hotel. We stayed at the Honduras Maya, which is a really nice hotel.
